An epidemic of Formula One World Championship flicks continues with the annoucement that Tom Cruise has signed on to play Carroll Shelby in “Go Like Hell.” According to Variety magazine, Fox Studios plans to start the shoot next year
“Go Like Hell” will be directed by “Oblivion’s” Joseph Kosinski and is based on author A.J. Baime’s book “Go Like Hell: Ford, Ferrari and Their Battle for Speed and Glory at Le Mans.”
The battles between Carroll Shelby and Enzo Ferrari of the 1960s are still fodder for racing lore and story-telling fifty years later. Ford and Ferrari’s racing teams on-track rivalry at the 24 Hours of Le Mans helped make Shelby a legend in auto racing.
Variety says the script is still in the early development stages and likely to be overhauled, with casting for supporting roles still underway.
